About the girls.

  • How did The Three belles form?

It began as part of our University project in our final year. All three of us had a similar interests in the 40s style and music and we decided to form a group like The Andrew Sisters and put on a 1940s evening. The project was so well received that we decided to take The Three Belles full time.

  • What got you interested in the 1940s?

We actually were all interested in the 1940s in our own separate ways. Sally (Gail) was interested in the fashion. Anneka (Betty) had done various shows set in the 1940s and had developed a love for the music and passion for the era, Isabelle (Dorothy) has always listened to 1940s Jazz music from a young age.

  • Tell us about your 1940s characters, Gail Betty and Dorothy?

We developed our 1940s characters to that fit with our experience show called ‘In The Mood’.  All Characters are mildly based on our personalities. Gail is the cheeky and flirtatious , Betty  is always smiling and happy, but is a few sandwiches short of a picnic and Dorothy is our sensible Belle, she often sings about love and scolds the girls when they get carried away.

  • What’s your favourite sandwich?

Betty – I like a spam sandwich with butter and no mustard.

Gail – I like a ham sandwich with a healthy dash of mustard.

Dorothy – I like toasted bread with a splash of Bovril.
